Semester Reflection, American Culture

              This semester in American Culture we discussed about many different topics of American community. One of the topics I really enjoyed was the class about superhero. I like Martin Luther King. He was interesting person.  He had supported the freedom and he had talked about the equality. Furthermore, we discussed in the class about American debate between Romney’s team and Obama’s team. It was interesting experience. We learn about the American culture, and we talked about different subjects.
             Moreover, we learned a lot about American society, in that everyone has a little information about American life style. Also, we talk about American holyday, and how the American people celebrate in their holyday.  Likewise, we talked about Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, and we discussed different ideas. Also, it was a new experience to me because I never knew about the same topic.     

Amercan Culture Class: My Hero

               

                Everyone has a superhero in his mind, and everyone wants somebody to help him and to encourage him. However, a hero doesn’t mean someone who has a superpower. In my opinion, heroes are inside in all people’s mind because they have the best qualities, and they help individual to achieve people’s goal.

               First, some of people have a specific quality that can make them a  hero. Those people can make different things by their qualities, and they can create different things or ideas to be like a hero. For example, batman has good quality such as technology, and he uses his quality to help people. Another example, Steve Job had a good quality to speak and he used to speak to support Apple’s company.

               Second, some  individuals support people to achieve their goal. They don’t necessarily have a power to help people, but they want to support people, and they want to encourage them to accomplish their aim. For instance, Martin Luther king helped black people to get their freedom and he didn’t have any superpower.

              In conclusion, everyone has a different hero in his life, and he chooses his hero differently. Also, individuals choose their hero dependence on their qualities and on their accomplishment.

American Culture Class Superhero

            In American culture class, we discussed the American idea of superheroes. There are many famous superheroes in American culture such as Batman, Spiderman, and Superman. We read an excerpt from the book “ Superman and Philosophy" by Joseph and Tom Harris.Most of people think the superheroes that have superpower and are supernatural. However, the writer said the people who create the stories of superheroes believe that these characters embody our deepest hope and fear.

            First, the most important thing  superheroes should have  that everyone of them should pursue justice, help people who cannot help themselves, and fight evil for the force of good. The superheroes typically have superpowers. Furthermore, Plato, the Greek philosopher, believed that good is inherently attractive. The superheroes are depicted as moral forces, or forces for what are good and right.

           Second, not all superheroes have superpower. Some of them are a normal people and they just help people and fight for the right. Also, they have power to protect people. However, most superhero stories are not written to teach us a lesson. Usually, they are just for fun, and the stories of superheroes are so popular because they always talk about a positive impact on the world.  For example, Batman can keep us going even when the going is very tough. It  means people should always try to achieve their goal. 

American Debate

            The debate has become a part of American Culture. Last week, we had a dialogue about political debate in America. In my opinion, the debate in class is the best way to learn because it encourages students to talk, and it makes students influence to speak.

            First of all, the debate in the class was a good thing for my classmates and me. It encourages them to talk together, and everyone support their idea. For example, the Obama’s group talks more than Romney’s group because they want to support their idea.

            Second, everyone in the class talks a little. Therefore, the debate is good to encompass more influence for speaker, in that the debate give the student’s influence to speak. For example, the students in each team should say each word clearly and specifically, in that the debate affects the influence of speaking.

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory

           Everyone have a different idea and interesting, in that everyone wants to get this interesting. In addition, the best way to get this interesting is by getting a job and getting money.  For long time age, America has been developing its economy. A lot of immigrations have been coming to U.S. Also, this people wanted to find a job for them, and they worked in unsafe place and for long time with the limitation in their right. On March 25, 1911, it was the deadline disaster in the history of the city of New York. It was the factory called Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. There were a lot of young girls working in the Triangle factory.   On March 25, 1911, the fire was starting in the 8^th floor in this factory, and there were a lot of girls working there, and the owner didn’t tell the employs there was fire. A lot of girls dead in this accident, and the laws in New York state have been changed because this accident. Likewise, the labor movement started in United State.    

John Lennon

                He was born in England. He was a famous singer and songwriter. Also, he was a founder member of The Beatles.
                However, he was contemporary wars as The Vietnam War, and he hates wars. So, he worked as an activism of peace. His Suspended opinions regretted and refused because he wanted   to stop a war. He said “I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.”

Strawberry !!?

          

               One day, the sun shone , and everyone listened to birds twittered in the morning. It was a beautiful and a nice weather. It was a spring time in the unique Island. Everyone preferred to walk around, to enjoy this weather, and these stunning views. Likewise, people wanted to hang out with their families and their friends. Therefore, most of them were interested to go to a park or to go to a forest because it is a good place for camping.

                However, I had been in a wonderful land, and I met a real amusing girl. Anyway, my alarm went off and I realized that I had a dream. I lost everything “the land, the girl and my dream.” Then, I decided to go to the forest.

                So, I went to a strange and murky forest. When I was walking inside the forest, I saw strawberry trees. They were the most awesome trees that I had seen in my life. However, something grasped my attention. there was an odd tree “it was a very red and a very skinny tree.” It was like a rose flower. Also, I wanted to take a picture with this tress, so I went to this tree.  Furthermore, I was trying to touch the tree, and it started to scream. I got scared because I thought the tree couldn't scream, and the tree started to talk . I was surprised, and the tree told me “ don’t touch me.” I felt, I was in the dream , but the tree turned around , and it pushed me . “ make a guess “ he is my friend “ Carlos”

Eggs Drop

Each Friday, I and my classmates have different activities,and each Friday we have a new innovation and a new crazy activities. So, last friday we had a funny game and a crazy idea, and we played the Egg Drop.  the teachers divided us to different teams, and each team behove to create an idea to protect the eggs from broken. when we finished the idea, we threw the egg from high level to the ground.

Strange Place

The place was crowded with people who used it to transfer them from one place to another place. Now, it became  dark  and empty, but it has dust and some residue of corridors and trials,and some of people sleep in this place in the winter nevertheless, the place became a beautiful location with a beautiful graphics. Every time some people came to this place to draw some beautiful pictures as a matter of fact, are unusual pictures and graphics. Also, It is a good place  people can see the river clearly. 
This place is located in downtown of Rochester, and it branches across and around the underneath of Rochester. It a place full of wonders epicenter is located under the Library of Rochester. 
It is the Subways of Rochester !!!! 

Repetition

In listening and speaking class we studied repetition. We listened to Wiston Churchill's 1940. " We shall never surrender speech." Here is my practice talk using repetition:-
We should be on right. We should help poor people. We should be kind. We should be affactinate. We should be helpful. We should be lovely. We should be freindly.

Be Creative

What did you like about Steven Jobs speech? What are the main idea?

         Every day, people acquire a new information and a new knowledge. they add this knowledge and information to their science. Also, the nature of human investigate and search a knowledge and information. I like when Steven Jobs said " stay hungry, stay foolish". I like it because people need to stay hungry of this life to discover everything in this life, and to stay foolish to learn more about this life. Also, Steven Jobs want from his commencement address to change people's mind and even if someone had a bad situation, he should not stop his life or recede his life in this situation. Contrariwise, people should be more creative , more intelligible, more responsibility, and more rational.

Picnic

people wake up in morning, and they listen to twitter birds. it is a signal the start of the summer.
It was a very nice weather and a wonderful day. I and my classmates met at outside in the open space to start barbecue and picnic. Actually, I missed the big part of this picnic because I went to cafeteria to cook a pizza. However, I enjoyed sitting with my classmates and our teacher and shared speak with them. Also, some of them played bocce ball and firsbee.

Personality

What do people assume about you? Is it all true? why or why not?

In my opinion, when people existed  to this world, they didn’t select their personality. Their personality grown up  dependent on their context and  their environment such as culture, traditional, and family. However, when most of people wanted to know another culture and to know about another country, they went to watch news or to read about this country. Therefore, most of news don’t show  a real fact or aspect from this culture, on that people cannot understand and realize a true character of person because they cannot see and know what is inside this person, and each person has his own personality. Accordingly, when people look to me or to anybody else, they just see an exterior of our personality. So, they are going to look for a background of us. For example, when I meet a new person, he will ask me about my background such as my country, and then if he has background about my country, he will figure out about what he know about my country, on that he will see me from his perspective about my background.

Susan Anthony

I was In Susan's house in the summer class, and i heard about her  She was hte first woman has talked about the equal devotion between the man and woman. Also, she was talking about the anti-slaves movement. Also, I heard she entered to jail , and her slave helped her to publish her thought. Susan  Anthony was born on  1820 in Adams, Massachusetts. She moved to Rochester in 1845. She interest to give the woman right and the freedom . She want to give the woman right to vote.

Topic: Keeping Memories Alive 

Since the outbreak of World War II, the German army stormed into Poland. When the German army started to storm Poland, large numbers of Jews people started to escape from death , which caused by German army.

I with my family were living in small town called Dzierqznia , and many Jews that were still living in the same area tried to escape and find places to hide. Due to different  of trade and economic relations which bind us with Jews, that were before the war.  Some of  Jew friends , who had relationship with my family, come to ask for shelier. All of them were hidden in the house , but this quickly become dangerous.

Finally , I help them to dug two underground hiding places. I just wanted to write this, because I want everyone to know the history and to keep memories alive  

Identity

Everyone has a wallet. Everyone at least has in his wallet his identification card. The people use the wallet to carry and to keep the important thing in this wallet. what  I carry with me in my wallet they don't show the people my identity or my personality because this kind of things can't people see or know  my personality by my wallet . People use a wallet  to carry the important thing , what they use every time ,and they need to use such as I carry with me in my wallet my ID card  and my driver license because I'm a foreign student here , so I should carry that with me to definite people who am I ? . Also, I have in my wallet my credit card to use to buy what I want. Finally, people can see in my wallet my health insurance, and something wrote from my religion, that people use to protect them, and some of cash money.

However, people don't be able to find in the wallet something about feeling and emotional or what the people keep inside them about their identity or their personality.

Scavenger Hunt

That was the first time I experience the scavenger hunt game , and it was wonderful and funny game because I just walked around the campus and I asked the people about lot of things I should to do them. However, I had something i couldnt do with my team " to ask people about the mony " hahahahah . Also, I and my team were to different places in the campus ,so we went to the chemistry department and we took picture with the periodic table of elements . We also went to the dean of eduction and it was first time I went to him.
